What to Expect:Your First Visit

Chiropractic

Initial Appointment

At your first visit, Dr. Brittany will explain how chiropractic care works and will do a full evaluation to see if chiropractic care is right for you. If there is a good fit, she will develop a plan of action that is specific to your condition and your health goals.

  • Health History/Stress Evaluation

First, she will do a complete past and current history evaluation to discuss your health-related problems and concerns and to learn about your condition. Because she is a holistic chiropractor, this evaluation includes your lifestyle habits such as how you eat, what you do for exercise, and the amount of toxins you are exposed to. This will give her more information about your health so she can put together a more customized plan for you.

  • Spinal Examination

She will then perform a complete examination to figure out the cause of the issue. This includes gait analysis, posture evaluation, range of motion testing, muscle tone palpation, and static and motion palpation of the spine to detect areas of joint restrictions or areas of hypomobility (called subluxations).

  • X-ray Studies

Depending on the findings of your examination, Dr. Brittany may recommend that x-rays be taken of your spine. These are used to better understand the cause of your condition and Dr. Brittany will also use them to put together a customized adjustment and exercise plan for complete resolution of symptoms and improvement of function.

Adjustment

You may or may not be adjusted on your first visit. Dr. Brittany will determine if this is appropriate or not based on the findings from your history evaluation and examination. An adjustment is a high velocity (fast) low amplitude (small force) thrust to a specific joint that allows motion of that joint to free up nervous system interference.

Report of Findings

Once all the information about your health concerns has been collected, Dr. Brittany will give you a detailed report of all results and answer any questions you may have, including how she can help you, how often treatment is needed, and how much treatment will cost. This is done on a separate day from your initial visit and is included in your new patient fee.
